Alijah Arenas, a five-star prospect in the Class of 2026, seemed unstoppable at the Damien Classic on Friday. NBA legend Gilbert Arenas' son dropped a record-breaking performance against Prescott Badgers.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard scored a whopping 56 points, seven rebounds and five assists. His sister, Hamiley Arenas, couldn't attend the game, so she took to Instagram to share her reaction to his brother's spectacular show.
Slam_hs' Instagram handle posted highlights from Alijah's 56-point game. The No. 4 overall from the 2025 class began the show by dodging defenders for fun. He dribbled past defenders, humiliating them in 1v1, 2v1 and even 3v1 before dunking the ball into the bucket.
Besides his dribbling skills, the youngster collected some difficult passes to bag some more points. Prescott's defense was no match for his impeccable shooting either.
Alijah Arenas' throws were effortless but accurate. The opponents could do nothing but raise their hands in an attempt to block the shot. However, it all went in vain on most occasions as the ball sailed right over them into the basket. Hamiley shared slam_hs' post on her Instagram story with the caption:
"Ofc you wanna pop off when I'm not there."
The 5-foot-10 guard seemed disappointed about missing out on Alijah's crazy performance. Despite his 56 points, Chatsworth Chancellors lost the game to Prescott Badgers with a scoreline of 93-87.
He lacked support from his teammates. The next player on Chatsworth's scoresheet was Elijah Miller, who bagged 11 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five steals. It was an intense and thrilling battle as the game went into overtime.
Chatsworth has a 9-3 record this season. It is unbeaten at home in three games and has lost only one away game out of the six. But Alijah Arenas' side has found it difficult on neutral venues, losing two out of three games.
Alijah Arenas' college commitment status
Alijah is pretty far away from making his choice, but he has already received over 20 offers from top colleges across the nation, including UTEP, Arizona, UCLA, Kansas and Texas. He is already the No. 2 shooting guard in his class and is likely to only get better from here.
According to On3, UCLA and Ariza are frontrunners in landing Alijah Arenas on their roster. UCLA has a solid 34.4% chance to add Laura Govan's son to their squad, while Arizona isn't far behind either, with a 30.1% probability.
Other institutions will also solidify their chances as the youngster would begin making official visits.
