Four-star safety Faheem Delane signed with Ohio State on Dec. 4 and is set to arrive at the program in early January. Meanwhile, his elder brother and Virginia Tech's cornerback, Mansoor Delane, revealed his plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal on Wednesday.

With this announcement, Mansoor will have one more year of eligibility. He played high school football at Archbishop Spalding High School (Maryland), where he was a three-star recruit in the 2022 cycle.

Mansoor has been with Virginia Tech for three seasons, recording 146 tackles, six interceptions, 16 passes defended and four forced fumbles in 33 games. He secured several Freshman All-American and All-ACC honors with the Hokies.

Mansoor had eighteen offers from programs like Maryland, Louisville, Minnesota, Boston College, Buffalo, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Michigan State, Old Dominion, Vanderbilt, Toledo and Virginia, among others. He was the No. 53 safety in the 2022 class, the No. 653 prospect in the nation and the No. 12 recruit in Maryland.

What does Faheem Delane's signing mean for Ohio State?

Faheem Delane is a consensus four-star safety and the reigning WCAC Defensive Player of the Year. He racked up 97 tackles, three interceptions, two sacks and one forced fumble while serving as a Swiss Army knife on defense in his senior season. His ability to play safety, cornerback or even linebacker depending on the matchup makes him an invaluable asset for Ohio State.

Safety coach Matt Guerrieri hit a home run with Delane, whose skill set aligns perfectly with defensive coordinator Jim Knowles’ safety-focused scheme. At 6-foot-1.5 inches and 210 pounds, he has the size and athleticism to make an immediate impact, whether in the secondary or on special teams. His aggressive playing style and knack for making plays in critical moments will add much-needed athleticism to the Buckeyes' defense.

Faheem Delane is the No. 1 safety in the 2025 class, the No. 37 prospect in the nation and the No. 3 recruit in Maryland, according to ESPN. He joins an elite group of safeties in Ohio State’s 2025 class, alongside Cody Haddad and DeShawn Stewart. The Buckeyes have a total of 26 signed players in the cycle, ranking No. 5 in the nation.
