Henry Jr., the son of late NFL wide receiver Chris Henry, has remained firm in his commitment to Ohio State despite speculation about a potential change.

Highlighting his trust in Buckeyes wide receivers coach Brian Hartline, Henry said to Nate Gravender:

“I chose Ohio State because of the development at my position; nobody is better than Coach Hartline at what he does.”

Reflecting on Ohio State’s tradition of producing elite receivers, Henry said:

“What stands out to me about Ohio State is the amount of first-round receivers that have been produced there, and the tradition is different for sure.”

Rich Rodriguez's return to West Virginia sparks recruitment battle for Chris Henry Jr.

West Virginia University has welcomed back Rich Rodriguez as its football coach. Rodriguez, who previously led the team from 2001 to 2007 with a 60-26 record, replaces Neal Brown, whose tenure ended with a challenging 37-35 record.

Rodriguez is now setting his sights on Chris Henry Jr., the nation’s top-rated wide receiver and the No. 5 overall player. Henry Jr. has drawn interest from powerhouse programs like Oregon, Tennessee, Alabama and West Virginia.

Reflecting on West Virginia’s appeal, Henry shared:

“Rich Rod coached my pops (the late Chris Henry, Sr.) and my uncle (Adam “Pacman” Jones). It’s West Virginia.”

Henry Jr. has expressed admiration for the Mountaineers, frequently watching his late father’s games under Rodriguez.

“I like to watch his West Virginia games," he told WCPO. "When I watch him, it’s like we run the same, catch the same — it’s crazy. It’s really important to live up to my dad’s legacy. I think about it a lot when I’m on the field."

Chris Henry Jr. has showcased impressive varsity stats over two seasons. In eight games, he tallied 20 receptions for 161 yards, averaging 8.1 yards per catch and 20.1 yards per game, with five touchdowns and a longest reception of 62 yards.
