Aaliyah Chavez, the No.1 WBB prospect from the 2025 class, flaunted a special edition sneaker in Monterey High School's win over Coronado on Tuesday. The 18-year-old finished the game with 50 points, earning praise from fans worldwide. But, besides her performance, it was her Nike Kobe 5 Proto "Year of the Mamba Eggplant" sneakers that caught the eyes of hoops fans.
Ballislifewbb's Instagram handle posted the highlights from Chavez's 50-point game on Wednesday.

Fans flocked to the comment section to share their excitement and opinions about Aaliyah Chavez's new pair of sneakers.
"Peep the shoes 😮😮😮," ballislifewbb was the first to join the party.
More joined in to react to the 5-foot-11 point guard's footwear.
"Those Kobes 🔥🔥🔥," a comment read.
"Her shoe game is always 🔥 #yearofmamba," a fan said.

The special edition Kobe sneakers are set to release on January 9, 2025. But the Texas native got her hands on the shoe before anybody else. Aaliyah Chavez posted an Instagram story flexing the early access of the coveted sneakers.
"got em," she wrote on a picture of a reportedly lunar themed box containing glossy purple shoe with a golden mamba on the sides.
The sneakers are dedicated to NBA legend Kobe Bryant and are themed after his mascot, 'The Black Mamba'. Chavez is a huge fan of the late Los Angeles shooting guard. On December 29, her parents gifted her a painting of Bryant alongside her own picture, which she on her Instagram handle.
"I have nothing in common with lazy people who blame others for their lack of success. Great things come from hard work and perseverance. No excuses," she wrote in caption.

On Friday, Chavez inched closer to Adrian McGowen's 5,424 points with an impressive 36-point performance against Palo Duro, and is currently close to reaching 4400 points. If she continues to drop similar performances, it wouldn't be a surprise if the young prodigy becomes the Texas player with the most points in her high school career.
Aaliyah Chavez has made multiple unofficial and official visits to many colleges but hasn't announced her commitment to any.
