Elite wide receiver Jaime Ffrench Jr. is done with high school and is set to begin a new chapter under coach Steve Sarkisian at the Texas Longhorns. Ffrench, ranked the No. 7 wide receiver in the nation by On3, played for Mandarin High School in Florida and was named the 'Alpha Dog' of the National Combine by 247Sports in January.
On Saturday, the young prodigy shared an emotional moment from his high school days at Mandarin on social media.
"It was good while it lasted," he captioned an Instagram story.
But this is not the first time the four-star prospect got nostalgic about high school. On Friday, he shared a couple of snaps counting down his last days at Mandarin before kicking it off at Texas.
Jaime Ffrench's high school career speaks for itself. In his freshman year, he recorded 116 receptions in six games. He upped the charts with 671 receptions in 10 games in his sophomore year. In his junior year, he accumulated a staggering 1247 receptions in just 15 games, the highest score in his high school career. In his final year at Mandarin, he finished with 621 receptions in nine outings.
Moving to his professional career, the Florida native pledged to the Longhorns in August and became part of the Texas athletic community.
Earlier, the prospect had committed to Alabama, but Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban's retirement this year tilted the scale towards Texas.
Jaime Ffrench credits coach Sarkisian for joining Longhorns, calls it "Sark Stamp"
In an interview with Horns247 in early December, Jaime Ffrench spoke about his decision to join the Longhorns and the role coach Steve Sarkisian played in turning the tide. Ffrench credited the coach's "Sark Stamp" for his change of mind.
"The Sark Stamp," he said, "it kind of showed yesterday (during the Texas-Florida game), incredible jet sweeps, stuff like that, man, I want to be a part of stuff like that. They're producing them. They'll have three out this year. I want to be a part of something like that."
Under Sarkisian's mentorship, Texas ranks No. 13 in the FBS in passing offense, 15th in team passing efficiency and 18th in total defense. As per a press release by Texas Longhorns on Dec. 18, Sarkisian was named a finalist for the George Munger College Coach of the Year Award.
Along with a robust program, Texas has produced an array of celebrated NFL players, including defensive back Raymond Clayborn, placekicker Justin Tucker, running back Earl Campbell and quarterback Bobby Layne, among others. Jaime Ffrench would be gunning to join the list when he joins the legendary institution.
