Aaliyah Chavez, the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2025, visited the Texas Tech Lady Raiders on Monday, Nov. 11. Texas Tech's Jasmine Shavers shared a behind-the-scenes moment of the five-star point guard via her Instagram story on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
The 5-foot-10 point guard could be seen sitting on a fancy throne-like chair, shooting money out of guns in both hands.
"🤩🤩🤩," Shavers wrote.
Texas Tech was one of the first institutions to make an offer to Aaliyah Chavez. After officially visiting Texas, UCLA and Oklahoma, the youngster ticked Texas Tech off her list.
Chavez's mother took to her Instagram to confirm her daughter's commitment status. She shared a clip of Aaliyah attempting a shot from the stands. Aaliyah reshared the story on her Instagram handle to bust any rumors about her commitment status.
"#notcommited," Chavez's mother wrote.
Texas Tech's women's basketball coach, Krista Gerlich, wants to land the Monterey Plainsmen star on her roster. She talked about her intention to keep the local stars on August 1.
"We want to keep them here so that we can fill that arena. And let's be honest, those kids grew up watching Lady Raider basketball and wanted to be a Lady Raider, and we needed this program to be in a position that they could come in and still want to be part of a winning program," Gerlich said.
Without taking her name, the coach made sure to pitch the Lady Raiders to the top prospect from the 2025 class, Aaliyah Chavez.
