Tyran Stokes, the five-star small forward from Louisville, Kentucky, is one of the most sought-after high school athletes in the country. The 6-foot-7 forward has received offers from some of the best NCAA programs such as Louisville, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Xavier, and Alabama, among others.
However, the Louisville Cardinals remain the frontrunners to acquire the five-star recruit, as per On3 Recruiting Prediction Model. Stokes took to Instagram and shared his first-ever post in a Louisville jersey and teased his followers with the caption, "Home?¿"
Stokes visited Louisville's campus over the weekend, marking his first official visit throughout his recruiting campaign. The forward's visit to the Cardinals makes sense as he is a Louisville native and signing for them will mean that he stays close to home and plays for one of the best basketball programs in the country.
The five-star prospect is ranked no.2 in the country and is the best player at his position from the class of 2026, as per On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the second-best player from his home state.
Tyran Stokes talks about his recruitment and the Louisville Cardinals
Tyran Stokes, the five-star recruit from Notre Dame High School, is expected to commit to his hometown school of Louisville, as per On3. The recruiting company has given the Cardinals a whopping 67.8% chance of landing the 6-foot-7 forward's commitment. Other programs in the race are Kentucky (1.9%) and Xavier (1.6%) according to the model.
Stokes took an official visit to Louisville this weekend. He spoke about the program during a previous interview with On3.
"Coach (Ronnie) Hamilton stays on me. He texts me after every game," the small forward told On3. "Most of my family lives in Louisville. I would say those two (Louisville and Kentucky) are the schools that are in contact with me the most. They’re home, so that plays some type of part. But at the end of the day, that won’t really matter."
Louisville is yet to add a prospect from the class of 2026 to its roster. However, the Cardinals have extended offers to 19 athletes from the class. It is still early days in the recruiting of the prospects from the class of 2026, but Tyran Stokes can become one of the Cardinals' early commitments from the class.
