DeMarcus Henry, son of the late Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry, is making a name for himself in basketball as part of Mater Dei. He posted several photos of himself during Mater Dei's game against San Juan Hills last December 3, which Mater Dei won 71-55.

The post received several reactions, including one from Ohio State Buckeyes basketball star Seini Henry, who expressed her love for her younger brother in the comments section.

"love you bubbyy❤️❤️❤️❤️." said DeMarcus Henry's older sister, Seini Henry.

His brother, five-star Mater Dei football star Chris Henry Jr., also reacted. Unlike his brother and older sister, he chose to pursue their dad's sport.

"Put this kid on to Nino fr," said brother Chris Henry Jr.

Chris Henry Jr. is ranked the No. 1 wide receiver by ESPN's Junior 300. He is also the No. 1 overall for his class. Their father, Chris Henry Sr., died on December 16, 2009, after he fell out due to a domestic dispute with fiancee, Loleini Tonga, the mother of Chris Jr., DeMarcus, and Seini. No charges were ever filed against their mother and no foul play was suspected.

While Chris Jr. and the Mater Dei Monarchs remain undefeated in football, beating powerhouses such as St. John Bosco and Bishop Gorman, DeMarcus Henry and the basketball team are off to a 3-1 start, losing their opener in a close one against Carlsbad, 72-74. However, they have not lost any game since then, including that road win against San Juan Hills.

DeMarcus Henry and Mater Dei to face tough opponents ahead

The Monarchs are already in a tough league, as Southern California is home to some of the strongest basketball programs in the country. The team also have a national schedule and will be facing some powerful opponents.

On January 10, the Monarchs will face No. 1 ranked 2026 recruit Brandon McCoy Jr. and St. John Bosco, regarded as one of the best teams in the country. They will meet again on January 31.

On January 15, they will face another formidable opponent, JSerra Catholic, and will have a rematch with them on January 29. The school is led by three-star SMU commit BJ Davis-Ray. Another tough matchup would be against three-star Dallas Washington and the Santa Margarita Catholic on January 22 and again on February 3.
