Julian Lewis, a highly coveted 5-star quarterback recruit for the 2025 class, has found a special connection with Colorado's coaching staff. Deion Sanders and offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur head the staff.

This unique bond is partly due to Neon Deion', Shurmur' and Julian's father's shared experiences as fathers of talented quarterback sons. Julian’s father, TC Lewis, highlighted this point in a podcast with Rivals recruiting director Adam Gorney.

According to TC Lewis, the understanding and relatability between himself, Sanders, and Shurmur stem from their common roles as "quarterback dads."

“Not only are they coaches, but they're also fathers," TC said. "We spent probably an hour and a half talking during our last visit, and the genuine nature of the staff stood out. The kids on the roster genuinely seem happy, which is rare.”

Although Julian Lewis is committed to USC, Colorado and Auburn are still in the race for his commitment. On Jun. 21, Ju Ju visited Boulder and was impressed by the authenticity and professional background of the coaching staff there.

"Coach Prime isn’t the kind of person to tell you what you want to hear. Coach Pat (Shurmur) isn’t a recruiter, either. He comes from the NFL, so that’s probably the biggest difference," Juju mentioned in an interview with BuffZone's Brian Howell.

Auburn's geographical proximity to Ju Ju's home in Georgia does give them a recruiting edge. However, the allure of playing under Coach Prime and learning from Shurmur's extensive NFL experience makes Colorado an attractive option.

"Auburn’s closeness to home is appealing, but Colorado offers a greater potential for brand building and financial growth as Coach Prime’s new wunderkind," recruiting analyst Phillip Dukes noted.

With quarterback Shedeur Sanders expected to enter the NFL after this season, Colorado is looking for a new starting quarterback. And Julian Lewis could be the ideal candidate to maintain the momentum.

Jordan Seaton's recruitment efforts target Julian Lewis for Colorado

Jordan Seaton is a top-rated five-star offensive lineman committed to the Colorado Buffaloes. He is actively working toward persuading five-star quarterback Julian Lewis to join him in Boulder.

"Jordan Seaton is trying to help personally recruit Lewis to Colorado. He's telling people, 'Hey, I'm losing my quarterback here in Shedeur Sanders. I need my franchise guy to come in behind him with Julian Lewis," Steve Wiltfong of On3 reported.

Seaton and Lewis, who were seen together during Lewis’ Colorado visit, share a strong bond. They also share the same quarterback coach, Darrell Colbert, strengthening Seaton’s recruitment efforts.

Lewis has impressive high school stats. He has 4,118 yards, 48 touchdowns and 12 interceptions as a freshman. In his sophomore year, he had 3,094 yards, 48 touchdowns and only two interceptions with a 66.4% completion rate.
