Julian Lewis, a five-star quarterback and one of the most highly regarded recruits in the Class of 2025, recently showcased his excitement for Colorado coach Deion Sanders’ recent offer to Brandon Arrington.
Buffaloes commit Lewis responded to the news of Arrington, the top-ranked athlete in the Class of 2026, receiving an offer from CU with a simple yet emphatic comment:
“It’s timeee.”
Arrington, a standout from Spring Valley, California, celebrated his latest milestone on social media, announcing his 37th Division I scholarship offer.
"Honored and blessed to say I received my 37th Division 1 scholarship from thee University of Colorado #gobuffs🦬 #viral," he posted.
The 6-foot-2 and 180-pound blue-chip player is often viewed as one of the most engaging athletes in his group. As per 247Sports Composite, Arrington is the top athlete with an unmatchable speed that led to his titles in the 100- and 200-meter dashes in the state.
While all major recruiting services place him among the top 50 prospects, experts from On3 and Rivals predict Texas A&M as the frontrunner for his commitment.
Julian Lewis, hailing from Carrollton, Georgia, has also been making waves. Initially committed to USC, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound quarterback reclassified to the Class of 2025 and pledged his allegiance to Colorado in November.
His impressive high school stats include completing 75.8% of his passes for 3,272 yards and 44 touchdowns in his most recent season.
Julian Lewis solidifies Colorado’s future as Shedeur Sanders’ successor
Julian Lewis, the nation’s No. 6 quarterback recruit for 2025 according to 247Sports Composite, is also ranked as the No. 2 pocket-passer quarterback by ESPN, just behind Bryce Underwood, who recently changed his commitment from LSU to Michigan.
This commitment addresses a critical need for Colorado as it prepares for life after Shedeur Sanders, who is expected to enter the 2025 NFL draft following an impressive college career.
In Shedeur’s absence, Ryan Staub made a lone start in 2023, a 23-17 loss to Utah, and played sparingly in 2024. Without Lewis, Colorado might have been forced to look to the transfer portal for its next starting quarterback.
Julian Lewis is set to enroll at Colorado in January and looks forward to competing for the starting role immediately.
"Coach Prime’s always said the best man’s gonna play," Lewis said of Deion Sanders. "And that’s really what I wanted, was to be able to come in and compete and start as a freshman. I wouldn’t have much fun sitting on the bench."
His arrival continues Deion Sanders’ impressive recruiting streak, joining names like Travis Hunter, Jordan Seaton and Cormani McClain.
