Michigan landed its biggest gift at the quarterback position as Top 100 2026 Cocoa High (Fla.) quarterback Brady Hart committed following his weekend visit. He chose the program over Miami, Ohio State, LSU, Florida, and Clemson, among others.

Hart is now the fifth among the top 10 pocket passers in the class of 2026 to announce his commitment, and the highest-ranked quarterback recruit the Wolverines have landed since J.J. McCarthy. The signal-caller himself revealed why Michigan stood out (via Recruits.cfb):

"When I walked out of Ohio State, I realized the culture that Michigan has isn't everywhere."

Hart also revealed that the Wolverines' detailed plan to ensure a transition period following Jim Harbaugh's departure to the Los Angeles Chargers also won his heart.

"The biggest thing was listening to their philosophy on how things are going to move forward without Coach [Jim] Harbaugh there," Hart told On3. "I don’t think the program is going to skip a beat. Michigan has been winning. They won a national championship last year. That’s what Michigan does."

247 Sports ranks Brady Hart as the No. 92 overall player in the 2026 class and the No. 7 quarterback. He is also ranked as the No. 9 quarterback, the No. 92 overall prospect nationally, and the No. 15 overall recruit in Florida for the next cycle, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

Brady Hart’s offensive coordinator sees him as a perfect fit at Michigan

Brady Hart is fresh off a multi-day unofficial visit to Ann Arbor, where he left a strong impression on the Wolverines. Michigan has made it clear that Hart is their top priority at the quarterback position for the next recruitment cycle. Hart’s offensive coordinator, Adam Franco, sees the signal-caller as an ideal fit for the program.

“I told Brady that he’ll know the place when he knows it,” Franco said (via On3). “It’ll come more natural than he thinks. He felt the love when he was at Michigan. He felt they really did their research on him."

Franco was full of praise for Hart's performance during his first year leading the offense, despite dealing with an injury.

"He really grew his mental muscle. That was evident when we progressed our offense faster with our reads. Instead of doing an either or type of read, he was able to get into multi-progression."

There is still a pending quarterback competition at Michigan to determine the starter for 2024. Despite the presence of four-star true freshman Jadyn Davis and four-star rising high school senior Carter Smith, Franco believes Brady Hart is more than capable of competing at a high level.

“They have a couple of other kids that are just as good. But I think Brady will go in and compete. When Coach Campbell and the staff think he’s ready to be the guy, he’ll be the guy."

As a sophomore, Hart completed 65.9% of his passes for 3,759 yards while scoring 41 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, leading Cocoa High School to the Florida 2S state championship.
