AJ Dybantsa may have announced that he will make his college announcement in February 2025. However, that announcement date may have just moved up for the No. 1-ranked prospect from the Class of 2026. College basketball recruitment insider Trilly Donovan posted a cryptic post on X regarding the matter.

"No. 1 off the board next week," wrote Donovan on X.

The final four schools that AJ Dybantsa is picking from are North Carolina, Alabama, Kansas and BYU. He narrowed down his list from his final seven last week, eliminating Kansas State, Auburn and UConn.

The favorite remains to be BYU, with a 69.2% chance of getting the commitment from the Utah Prep star, per On3.

This claim from Donovan is backed by ZAGSBLOG's Sam Lance, who previously spoke with AJ Dybantsa's father, Ace, who is the one seen to be making the decisions. He handles the business end of things for his son.

Lance stated that he was told that AJ's decision had moved up. It is expected either this month or in January.

The No. 1-ranked 2025 recruit has already had his official visits with all four schools, with the last one being with BYU last October. The school has also been the most aggressive in recruiting him, with head coach Kevin Young already recruiting him before he took over as head coach.

Young has reportedly touted his NBA connections to Dybantsa, who is reportedly only planning to spend one year with whatever school he picks. He is projected to enter the 2026 NBA Draft and is a possible No. 1 draft pick already.

AJ Dybantsa and Utah Prep lose to Dream City Christian National

Meanwhile, AJ Dybantsa also has to focus on Utah Prep's season, as the team lost again, this time to Dream City Christian National. It was a close match, however, with the final score being 80-77.

It was still a strong game for Dybantsa, however, as he dropped 31 points in a losing effort for Utah Prep.

This is already the second loss by Utah Prep in just two weeks, having lost to Mt. Zion Prep Academy last Nov. 27. The school had previously won against ranked opponents, including No. 1-ranked Link Academy and the previous No. 1-ranked Columbus, which is led by his rival, No. 2-ranked Cameron Boozer.

Dybantsa and Utah Prep must now bounce back, as their next opponent will be No. 3-ranked Darryn Peterson and AJ's former school, Prolific Prep. It will happen on Dec. 8 in Murray, Kentucky.
