AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2025, has said he could commit to a college program earlier than expected. Dybantsa told ESPN that he will likely move up his commitment date.
“The original plan was to commit in February,” Dybantsa told ESPN's Paul Bincardi.
He added that he wanted to have enough time to see all schools play. But since his visits ended in October, he is closer to making a decision. Dybantsa hinted that he may have already made up his mind.
“If I know where I want to go, why wait?” Dybantsa said.
The $2 million NIL-valued youngster, per On3, went on to reveal the following major update about his much-anticipated announcement. He said,
“It's probably going to be in December," Dybantsa said. "I feel I will be ready by then.”
The Utah Prep star has narrowed his potential destinations to BYU, Kansas State, Alabama, Kansas, North Carolina, and Auburn. According to On3, BYU has the highest chance of securing him at 68.9%.
Kansas State is second with 13.4%, while Alabama is next in line at 7.1%. Kansas, North Carolina, and Auburn each have a 2.3% probability.
AJ Dybantsa's prediction for his NBA career
AJ Dybantsa recently appeared on "Podcast P with Paul George." He said that if eligible, he would be the No. 1 draft pick in the 2025 NBA draft. He picked himself over other top recruits, including Cooper Flagg and Ace Bailey.
"Yeah, I bet on myself. Always bet on yourself," Dybantsa said on Oct. 28.
AJ Dybantsa has already inked deals despite still playing high school basketball. He is the first men's basketball player to agree to a NIL deal with the energy drink brand, Red Bull. His $2 million NIL valuation is more than what many popular kids in the basketball scene, including the children of former NBA legends make.
