The last two months have witnessed multiple flips or decommitments, and as the early signing period is approaching soon, there remain rumors about the commitment status of blue-chip prospects like five-star player Dakorien Moore. The wide receiver is committed to Oregon and plans to stay locked.
On Thursday night, Moore informed On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he shut down his recruitment, saying,
“Oregon family, let’s build something special! Recruitment officially closed. #scoducks🦆”
LSU has the reputation of “Wide Receiver University," which led Moore to commit to the school last year. But he decommitted from the Tigers in May and gave his pledge to Oregon in July.
However, LSU tried to pursue Moore for the second-time commitment and even hosted him during its 42-13 loss to Alabama on Nov. 9. However, Brian Kelly's program couldn’t keep up the momentum, and Dan Lanning's staff won the recruitment race.
Dakorien Moore has been a key playmaker for Duncanville, torching defenses and leading his team to an 11-0 record and a deep run in the Texas state playoffs.
Dakorien Moore raves about Oregon's coaching staff
Dakorien Moore is the only Duck pledge featured in the top 10 of On3’s latest On300 rankings of the best high school football prospects in the nation. He is the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2025 class and the No. 1 recruit in Texas, per ESPN.
Moore also ranks as the program’s second-highest recruit of all time, trailing only Kayvon Thibodeaux, now a standout with the New York Giants. The Ducks coaching staff, including the head man, Dan Lanning, played a big role in his continued interest in the program.
“Coach Lanning knows how to judge people, and he is a good judge of character," Moore told On3 in July. "And he’s really good at building relationships and getting people to trust him. I feel like that reels the great players in."
Moore committed to Oregon on July 4, two weeks after visiting Eugene, proving his affinity for the school. The Ducks wide receivers coach, Junior Adams, led the charge in this recruitment.
"And with Coach Adams, he’s just a well-rounded good coach, good mentor and a good person to be around," Moore said.
According to On3, Oregon's 2025 recruiting class ranks No. 7 in the nation and has 16 total commitments. The cycle is still in the conversation for a lot of uncommitted athletes, including defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart.
