For the second year in a row, the two-time Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to host the Florida High School Girls Flag Football championship. According to FHSAA Public Relations Officer Kelvin Richardson, the Buccaneers will tentatively host the championship at One Buc Place's AdventHealth Center from May 8 to May 10.

This year, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have expanded their FHSAA Classification from 1A-2A and will now include championships for schools under 1A-4A.

The Buccaneers play an active role in Florida's high school sports circuit. In collaboration with Hillsborough County, they host around 10 student-athlete-centric events, generating scholarship exposure and showcasing talent.

Last year, alongside hosting the FHSAA girls flag football state championship, they also hosted the Hillsborough County Media Days and the girls flag football preseason kickoff classic.

In 2024, they facilitated a regular matchup between Alonso and Newsome High School, which are part of Hillsborough County Public Schools in Florida.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers' player-student mentoring program

In October 2024, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers launched a Player-Student Mentoring Program. This initiative is part of the Buccaneers' Social Justice program, which kicked off in 2018 with a $1 million commitment from the Glazer Family.

The Glazer Family, owners of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, are among America's top 50 wealthiest families, with a net worth of $10 billion according to Forbes.

In a press release, RIPA & Associates President and CEO Chris LaFace spoke about this significant step.

"We’re honored to support the Buccaneers Player-Student Mentoring Program and to be a part of its powerful impact on local youth. At RIPA, we are committed to fostering the growth and development of young people in our community,"LaFace stated.
"This program provides an invaluable opportunity for students to learn and grow alongside Tampa Bay’s best, and we’re thrilled to contribute to such a meaningful initiative," LaFace added.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Ali Marpet will serve as an Emeritus Board Member. Meanwhile, the rest of the board includes Antoine Winfield Jr, Will Gholston, Jamel Dean, Zyon McCollum, Jordon Whitehead, C.J. Brewer and Bryce Hall.

The program, in collaboration with Safe & Sound Hillsborough, is expected to impact up to 100 high school athletes in the East Tampa region. This includes 50 students each from Middleton High School and King High School.

I"t’s really exciting for us to be able to use our platform to impact student-athletes right here in Tampa Bay,” said Winfiled Jr. ” It’s a natural connection given we were once in their shoes, so we’re looking forward to meeting them and getting to work alongside them throughout this school year.”

As part of this initiative, students will attend four workshops and volunteer alongside the the Buccaneers' food insecurity efforts at the 18th annual "Turkey Time with O-Line" and the D-Line Mobile Food Pantry.
