Three-star safety Steve Miller out of Greene County High School in Georgia, made waves in the recruiting world with his recent commitment flip from Mississippi State to USC.
Miller committed to Mississippi State on June 16, making the announcement on social media. That commitment lasted for about four-and-a-half months before a visit to a top-tier Big 10 program altered his plans.

Steve Miller, who was offered by USC on Sept. 16, visited the Trojans on Saturday for their game against then-No. 4 Penn State, On3 reported. Although the Trojans (3-3) lost 33-30, he flipped his commitment from the Bulldogs to USC only two days later.
"I'm Home, I hope you respect my decision," Miller tweeted.
He also posted the news on Instagram.
“The Trojans are just a family that keeps God first and is all about business," Miller said. "And that’s something I wanna be a part of.”
Steve Miller is rated as a three-star and ranked the 40th-best safety in the state of Georgia in the Class of 2025, according to 247Sports. He also holds offers from schools like Kansas, Arkansas, UConn, LSU and Tennesee.
He is a multitalented prospect who can play cornerback and safety. The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder also plays on the offensive side of the ball at receiver.
In 2023, after his junior football season, he was named the Georgia 1A-D2 Region 8 Player of the Year after totaling 17 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Mississippi State and USC recruiting
Mississippi State, which is 1-5 this season, currently has 17 commits, four of them being four-stars, and its 2025 recruiting class is ranked 33rd by 247Sports.
USC has 22 commitments, with one of them being a five-star. Its 2025 recruiting class is ranked 10th by 247Sports.
Despite losing three of its last four games, USC coach Lincoln Riley is still able to get commitments from top recruits as he's known as an exceptional recruiter.
