The then No. 16 Indiana improved to 7-0 for the first time since 1967 with a dominant 56-7 win over Nebraska on Saturday. The victory matched Curt Cignetti's program's most lopsided Big Ten win.
The on-field success is also paying off in recruiting, as three-star defensive lineman Kyler Garcia reaffirmed his commitment to Indiana just a day after the win. He took to X to announce his decision, writing:
"After some thought and consideration I’ve decided to close my recruitment, See y’all in Bloomington in a couple of months 😉 #NewIU #HOOSIERS."
Garcia's reaffirmation is a significant gain for Indiana's 2025 recruiting class, as he is enjoying a successful senior season at Pearl-Cohn High School in Tennessee. According to MaxPreps, in six games, he has 34 tackles (19 solo and 15 assisted), 15 tackles for loss and five sacks.
Garcia helped the school capture the Class 4A state championship last season, finishing the year with 55 tackles, including 13 for loss and had four sacks, according to The Tennessean.
ESPN ranks him as the nation's No. 63 defensive lineman in the 2025 class and Tennessee's No. 27 prospect. 247 Sports ranks him as the No. 130 defensive lineman in the class and the No. 27 prospect in the state.
Indiana DL coach provided the pitch for Kyler Garcia's commitment
Kyler Garcia strongly considered Georgia before committing to Indiana in June. Besides these two schools, he had a final five of Wisconsin, Louisville and Purdue.
The Hoosiers' defensive tackle coach Pat Kuntz played a crucial role in increasing his affinity for the school.
"Coach Kuntz is a really good guy," Garcia told The Tennessean following his commitment. "He's very passionate, not only about coaching, but about Indiana. I feel very strongly about Coach Kuntz. (Indiana) lined up with everything I've been looking for in my journey."
Indiana's 2025 class is ranked No. 55 in the nation, with 20 committed players. Aside from Kyler Garcia, notable prospects from this cycle include edge rusher Triston Abram, running back Sean Cuono, wide receiver Davion Chandler, cornerback Jaylen Bell, and defensive lineman Jhrevious Hall.
