Kade Phillips, the four-star cornerback from Missouri City, Texas, flipped his commitment from the Texas Longhorns to the LSU Tigers on August 18. Phillips' initial commitment to the Longhorns was announced on July 6.

Despite receiving over 20 offers from top universities across the nation, he ultimately decided to join LSU. His decision has left fans with conflicting opinions on social media.

Some fans blamed Texas' poor secondary for Phillips' decision to flip to the Tigers. The Longhorns only have one cornerback commit on their roster from the class of 2025, Fort Bend Marshall CB Caleb Chester.

LSU fans called it a smart move and expressed their excitement about landing a talented defenseman from the class.

"Smart decision young man," one fan commented.
"The smartest decision to make, young man," another fan wrote.
"Great decision for him," another fan commented.

Phillips is ranked No.164 nationally and is the 18th-best defensive back in the country, as per On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the 26th-best overall prospect from his home state of Texas.

As per On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine, LSU had the second-best odds of landing Phillips and now they have secured his commitment.

Phillips spoke about his decision to flip to Brian Kelly and the Tigers in an interview with On3.

"LSU has been on me ever since they first offered me," the four-star defensive back told On3. "It was a little while once I committed to Texas with them still texting and calling me almost every day. The [LSU] coaching staff was locked in with me even after I committed. I feel like the environment there is amazing. Every time I went down there, the vibe was great."

Kade Phillips made an official visit to Baton Rouge in June. He chose the Tigers over other top programs such as Texas A&M, Baylor, Arizona State, Oregon, Auburn, Michigan, Ole Miss, and Penn State among others. The Fort Bend Hightower DB is the Tigers' 24th commit from his class. LSU's class of 2025 is currently ranked No. 3, according to 247Sports.
