South Carolina's 2024 season ended with a 9-4 record, and the Gamecocks are now actively pursuing potential prospects by sending offers. One of the latest juniors to receive a scholarship from Shane Beamer's program is four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel, who is committed to Florida State.

On Friday, Smigiel shared the news on X, tagging Beamer and writing:

"I am blessed to receive an offer from the University of South Carolina! @CoachSBeamer."

Smigiel gave his pledge to Florida State in June over schools like Ohio State, Oregon and Washington. The Seminoles' 2026 cycle holds commitments from five other players and ranks No. 6 in the nation. However, like the 2025 class, Florida State witnessed several decommitments in the 2026 class as well.

Linebacker Izayia Williams, cornerback Jaelen Waters and wide receiver Devin Carter backed off their pledges. Given Smigiel's outstanding player profile, being the No. 5 quarterback in the 2026 class, the Seminoles might also be in danger of potentially losing his commitment, and that's the chance for South Carolina to add him to its roster.

Brady Smigiel's potential at South Carolina

Brady Smigiel's father, Joe, has been his coach, so he has been around football and worked diligently to turn himself into a strong-armed pocket passer. His potential addition would be a great boost for South Carolina's 2026 class, which has six committed players and ranks No. 5 in the Southeastern Conference.

The Gamecocks 2026 class lacks a quarterback commit, and Smigiel can be the missing piece in the puzzle. He has put up huge numbers since his freshman season, and 2024 was no exception. He accumulated 3,521 passing yards and 49 passing touchdowns for only three interceptions, while also adding 11 rushing touchdowns to his tally. He also had a passer rating of 135.9.

However, Smigiel remains focused on improvement.

"I think there are always critiques, like for me, being able to get rid of the ball and do an even better with my third and fourth option throws," Smigiel told FSU Wire.

Smigiel has been proving his ability to lead an offense with precision and has compiled 11,222 passing yards and 147 touchdowns in his high school career.
