Four-star linebacker Anthony Davis, from Grayson High School in Georgia, has been a hot name in the 2026 recruiting class. The standout added his 40th offer from Shane Beamer's South Carolina on Friday.
Davis shared the news on X, tagging South Carolina defensive player personnel assistant Dru Lindler:
"#AGTG BLESSED TO RECEIVE MY 40TH OFFER FROM UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA 🐔 @dru_lindler @RivalsFriedman @adamgorney @SWiltfong_ @TomLoy247 @ChadSimmons_ @CoachCarswell @CoachNickPopiel @CoachSB_4theG."
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound junior is an Under Armour All-American game commit. Except for On3, all other recruiting channels list him as a four-star prospect. According to the On3 Industry Rankings, he is the nation's No. 205 overall talent, the No. 18 linebacker in the 2026 class, and Georgia's No. 24 recruit.
Davis revealed his top 12 schools last month, but South Carolina missed that shortlist due to the timing of its offer.
However, South Carolina has a strong chance to change Davis' mind by pushing hard to show what it can offer. The Gamecocks' 2026 class ranks No. 8 in the nation with five committed players.
Anthony Davis opens up about his commitment timeline
Anthony Davis' top schools are Auburn, Colorado, Oklahoma, Alabama, USC, Ohio State, Clemson, Michigan, Penn State and Oregon. He hasn’t yet decided his commitment time, but his final school is likely to be one of them.
"I am putting my focus on these schools and I will likely commit to one of the schools on this list one day," Davos told SI. "I could commit early or decide to wait. Whenever God tells me the time is perfect to commit is when I will do it. It is something I will keep thinking about and see when I get that feeling."
As of now, Auburn is leading the race for Davis' commitment with a 54.0% chance, per On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. The Tigers have five committed players to the 2026 class, ranking No. 6 in the nation and No. 2 in the Southeastern Conference.
Other schools in the race for Anthony Davis are Tennessee (10.2%), USC (8.7%) and Oregon (7.3%).
