Sherron Moore’s tenure as Michigan coach has seen several promising strides, particularly with the recruitment of five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood. However, the Wolverines have hit a stumbling block in their efforts to fortify the offensive lineup around Underwood.

The setback comes as UCLA strengthened its roster with a major acquisition from the transfer portal. As per On3 on Sunday, former Appalachian State wide receiver Kaedin Robinson has committed to the Bruins. He could've been the partner for Underwood, but Michigan missed out on the opportunity.

According to On3 reporter EJ Holland, the Wolverines had offered Robinson but could not "get him on campus."

It was hoped that Sherrone Moore would build a stellar offense for future QB1 Bryce Underwood, but the Wolverines' moves fell short. Instead of elite talent, Michigan landed WR transfer Tyrin Smith.

Missing out on Kaedin Robinson to UCLA stings more, as Robinson reunites with quarterback Joey Aguilar, boosting the Bruins' offense. Aguilar showcased his prowess at Appalachian State, throwing for over 3,000 yards in each of his two seasons.

Originally a three-star recruit from Christ School in Asheville, North Carolina, Robinson was ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in the state and the No. 7 wide receiver nationally in the Class of 2021, per On3.

Robinson’s 2023 performance was impressive: 53 receptions for 840 yards, two touchdowns and an average of 15.8 yards. Across his collegiate career—spanning one year at UCF and three at Appalachian State—he amassed 148 receptions, 2,194 yards, 15 touchdowns and an average of 14.8 yards.

His 3,003 passing yards were the highest in the Sun Belt Conference in 2023. During the 2023 campaign, Aguilar delivered an outstanding 3,757 passing yards and 23 touchdowns in 14 games.

Bryce Underwood’s NIL deal includes perks for family

Bryce Underwood’s NIL agreement with Feldman Chevrolet of Highland has made headlines, not just for benefiting the young quarterback but also for extending perks to his family.

Underwood, valued at $2.9 million per On3, received a 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe RST as part of the deal. The SUV carries a sticker price of approximately $70,000. However, Underwood wasn’t the only one to receive a new ride.

In a video posted on Feldman Chevrolet’s Instagram account, both of Bryce Underwood’s parents were also shown receiving vehicles. His father, Jaquan Underwood, climbed into a brand-new Chevrolet Silverado High Country, while his mother, Beverly Underwood, opted not to disclose the model of her vehicle.

Michigan, once criticized for not leveraging its vast donor base and brand for NIL opportunities, has made significant strides under Sherrone Moore’s leadership.
