Sherrone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines have been predicted as the favorites to sign five-star 2025 offensive tackle Ty Haywood. Haywood visited Ann Arbor over the weekend along with other prospects, highlighting the Wolverines’ efforts to add another five-star to their already star-studded 2025 class.

College recruitment insiders Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons of On3 logged a new prediction favoring Moore’s side to land Haywood following his visit last weekend. With the prediction, Michigan may be on the verge of signing the No. 5 offensive tackle in the 2025 class, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

A former Alabama commit, Haywood stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs 285 pounds. He has received offers from 33 programs, per 247Sports. These include offers from heavyweights like Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and USC.

The five-star offensive tackle from Ryan High School in Denton, Texas, pledged his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide on July 14, 2024. However, he did not cement his commitment to Kalen DeBoer’s team during the early signing period. What many Alabama fans feared about his potential decommiting came true on Jan. 13 when he announced his decision to decommit from the program.

Reviewing Sherrone Moore’s 2025 recruiting class

Sherrone Moore is set to continue overseeing the Wolverines for the second straight season. The 38-year-old fell short of expectations in his first season in charge of the former national champions, leading to an 8-5 finish. However, the program rallied behind the head coach to build a sustainable future on the foundation of a solid 2025 recruiting class.

This meant making available an unprecedented sum in NIL value to help convince top talents. Nothing demonstrates this better than the flipping of the nation’s No. 1 prospect, Bryce Underwood, from LSU. The move involved an NIL deal reportedly valued at around $12 million. It also saw inputs from NFL legend Tom Brady and billionaire co-founder of tech giant Oracle, Larry Ellison.

Consequently, the Wolverines pulled off a 2025 recruiting class ranked No. 3 nationally by On3, headlined by Underwood. The class consists of 22 signees, with 65% being blue chip signings and 22% recruited within the state.

If the imminent signing of Haywood is realized, he will come in as the Wolverines’ second five-star offensive tackle signee. He would join the On3 Industry Ranking No. 3 offensive tackle Andrew Babalola.
