Five-star quarterback Elijah Haven is the No. 1 player in the country in the 2027 class. He was in attendance during Michigan's tough 38-17 loss to Oregon on Saturday and received an offer from Sherrone Moore's program.

Haven shared the news on X, tagging Michigan offensive analyst Josh Sinagoga, player personnel and recruiting analyst Josh Meyer, as well as quarterback coach Kirk Campbell and director of player personnel Albert Karschnia.

"After a great time today, I am extremely blessed to say I have been offered a scholarship by the University of Michigan! @DunhamAthletics @NeilWeiner @Coach_Sinagoga @josh7meyer @CoachKCampbell @AKarsch_UM @Jhand319."

As a freshman, Haven earned titles such as All-District Offensive MVP, All-District First Team and All-Metro First Team, finishing with an 8-3 record. This season, he has continued to shine, achieving a phenomenal 67.7% completion rate.

On Friday, Haven led his school, Dunham, to an 18-0 victory over the Knights, extending their regular-season winning streak to 14 games. In that game, he recorded three touchdowns and carried the ball 23 times for 87 yards.

Haven has received offers from Baylor, Cornell, Florida, LSU, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss and Texas Tech, among others. As of now, LSU is leading the race for his recruitment.

Interestingly, LSU has already secured the top-ranked quarterback in the 2025 class, Bryce Underwood, who is also being courted by Michigan. The Wolverines have been aggressive with NIL offers to try to lure Underwood and now have extended an offer to Haven. Michigan is seemingly in a race with LSU for commits and targets.

Michigan Wolverines' 2027 recruitment class update

Michigan's 2027 recruiting class is still awaiting its first commitment, but the Wolverines are actively pursuing some of the top prospects in the nation. At quarterback, Michigan initially targeted four-star Trae Taylor before aiming at Elijah Haven. According to On3 Industry Rankings, the Wolverines currently hold a 38.8% chance of landing Taylor’s commitment.

On the offensive side, new Michigan running backs coach Tony Alford is working to build a strong backfield, extending offers to promising 2027 running backs Ezavier Crowell and Landen Williams-Callis. Tight ends coach Steve Casula is also eyeing some of the top players at his position, including D’Angelo White, Anthony Cartwright and Holden Niemi.

The Wolverines are equally committed to strengthening their defense. They have shown significant interest in linebacker Antwoine Higgins, safety Omarii Sanders and versatile athlete Darryl Flemister.
