Bryce James, son of the four-time NBA Champ LeBron James has been nominated for the 2025 McDonald's All-American Game. The Sierra Canyon High School guard is among the 805 players nominated for a chance to play at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Apr. 1.
Sierra Canyon head coach Sandell Jones took to his Instagram story to highlight the inclusion of James and his teammates shooting guard Bryce Cofield, point guard Jayden Alexander, point guard Gavin Hightower and Dynamic Prep's Chris Nwuli.
Other notable names that made the list include Perry's Koa Peat, combo guard Brayden Burries, son of the three-time NBA All-Star Alijah Arenas, Duke signee Nikolas Khamenia and Kansas commit Darryn Peterson, among others.
The nominations were separated into two sections, East and West. According to the official website, they were selected by 'a high school coach, athletic director, principal, or member of the McDonald’s All-American Games Selection Committee based on competitive criteria.' With hundreds of nominations, the Top 24 girls and boys will be announced later in January.
Just like the NBA All-Star weekend, the McDonald's All-American Game will feature a slam dunk competition and a three-point competition, and the boys and girls will also compete against the All-American alumni in a timed team match.
At the end of the elite high school event, the most outstanding boy and girl receive the MVP/MOP award, known as the John R. Wooden Most Valuable Player Award, kept after former UCLA basketball coach John Wooden.
Rutgers' Dylan Harper and South Carolina's Joyce Edwards won the John R. Wooden MVP last year. The prestigious award has been held by some stellar players including eight-time NBA All-Star Dwight Howard, 20-time All-Star LeBron James and five-time All-Star Kevin Love, among others.
