Chris Henry Jr., the highly touted 5-star wide receiver and son of the late Cincinnati Bengals star Chris Henry, has shared big news on his social media. His sister, Seini Hicks, announced that she is the newest addition to the Buckeyes basketball family. Seini announced this on Instagram and Chris reshared her post to celebrate the family milestone.
Hicks’ basketball journey began with offers from Appalachian State and UNC-Greensboro when she was still living in North Carolina. After moving to Cincinnati and competing in the Midwest AAU circuit, her recruitment skyrocketed.
By April 2023, she received 12 Division I offers before deciding on Ohio State. A talented forward, she helped Julius Chambers High School win a state title as a sophomore in North Carolina and later went 24-1 with West Clermont High School last season.
In the summer she switched to Purcell Marian High School, a team that won back-to-back state championships, the Division III state championship in 2022, and the Division II state championship in 2023.
Chris Henry Jr. also carries his family's athletic legacy forward. The standout wide receiver is regarded as the top sophomore in the nation after transferring to Mater Dei High School in California.
He committed to Ohio State in July 2023 and earned MaxPreps Freshman All-America honors with 29 catches, 292 yards and five touchdowns in his first year.
Their father, Chris Henry Sr., was a Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver from 2005 to 2009 but tragically passed away at the age of 26. Posthumously diagnosed with CTE, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, Henry’s legacy lives on through his children’s athletic accomplishments.
Five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. out for the season with a knee injury
According to Rivals, Chris Henry Jr., the highly-rated Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver from Mater Dei in Santa Ana, CA will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury. The news broke during Mater Dei’s game against Santa Margarita Catholic, cutting Henry’s promising year short.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and 195 pounds, Henry is considered the top overall prospect in the 2026 class, as ranked by the On3 Industry Ranking. He transferred to Mater Dei in February 2024, after a stellar 2023 season at Withrow High School in Cincinnati, where he was an all-state selection. During that season, he amassed 1,127 yards and 10 touchdowns on 71 receptions over 14 games.
Mater Dei head coach Griffin praised Henry’s potential:
"I think everybody in his life wants to see Chris Henry Jr. play on Sundays," Griffin told ESPN. "The kid has everything -- he's just like his dad. He's working his butt off to be elite like that every day."
Despite his commitment to the Buckeyes, he visited Oregon when the Ducks hosted a recruiting weekend in July.
