South Carolina signee Eli Ellis sets OTE record with first quarter display in his latest game

South Carolina signee Eli Ellis had one of the best games of his high school career as YNG Dreamerz beat the Blue Checks 91-70 in their Overtime Elite clash. He made Overtime Elite history by scoring 28 points in a single quarter before going on to finish with 44 points on Jan. 1.

In addition to the record, Ellis also recorded six assists and four rebounds and made six 3-pointers from 14 attempts in 33 minutes.

Ellis’ performance against the Blue Checks is not out of the blue as the South Carolina commit has been outstanding all season.

The 6-foot-1 shooting guard is averaging 32.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game for the YNG Dreamerz. His play has helped the YNG Dreamerz (11-1) move to the top of the standings.

Ellis will hope to continue to impress when the YNG Dreamerz return to action against Jelly Fam at OTE Arena on Jan. 18. Seven days later, Ellis and the boys will take on the City Reapers, who are second in the standings with eight wins. The Dreamerz will then play Diamond Doves to start February.

Ellis heading to South Carolina as his profile continues to grow

Eli Ellis will aim to continue to improve as he heads to the South Carolina Gamecocks next season. The Hickory, North Carolina, native chose South Carolina over the College of Charleston, Winthrop and Mississippi State. He will play alongside his Overtime Elite colleague Hayden Assemian, who will also play for the Gamecocks.

Ellis, who is ranked as the 69th overall prospect in the Class of 2025 by on3, is already one of the most popular players heading to college from his class.

Ellis has a strong social media presence. He has over one million followers on TikTok and 630,000 on Instagram. He does not just post basketball-related stuff on his social media pages as he also posts a few memes.
