Five-star athlete Michael Terry III committed to the Texas Longhorns in the early signing period on Wednesday morning in a ceremony at Alamo Heights High School in Texas. The No. 1 athlete in the 2025 class chose Steve Sarkisian's program over Nebraska, Oregon and Texas A&M, among others.

The 6-foot-3, 217-pound prospect is a versatile player who has excelled in multiple roles for Alamo Heights. Whether lining up as a wide receiver, defensive back, running back, or on special teams, his athleticism makes him a game-changer. However, his first choice for his college position is wide receiver, according to Gerry Hamilton of On3.

Terry has rushed for 684 yards and 11 touchdowns on 86 carries, added three touchdown receptions on 166 receiving yards, and even contributed two passing touchdowns in his senior season. Over his high school career, he amassed over 3,100 yards and 56 touchdowns.

Michael Terry III is ranked the No. 91 overall player in the 2025 cycle and the No. 19 recruit in Texas.

Michael Terry III was the second-best uncommitted player entering the early signing day on Wednesday, trailing five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry. With his commitment, the Texas Longhorns now have 10 top-100 commits in their 2025 class.

“Growing up I always loved the Longhorns,” Terry told On3. “They were a big part of my family. My family liked the Longhorns too. It’s right down the road. My family gets to come to all my games.”

Terry is known for his elite blocking ability and relentless motor, having the caliber to excel in both pass protection and downfield run blocking. He cited the Longhorns' developmental reputation as a key factor in his decision.

“Being on a high-developed team, I can see myself being there and developing myself there,” Terry said. “Really how they run their offense. How they’re so advanced in their play calls and stuff."

Terry's addition puts Texas in the No. 1 class in the nation. The Longhorns also flipped five-star cornerback Kade Phillips from LSU this week and have multiple other five-star prospects locked in this cycle.
