In a major win for Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting push, coach Mike Elko has secured a commitment from highly-rated four-star edge rusher Jordan Carter. The addition of Carter, ranked 35th nationally by the On3 Industry Ranking, bolsters Texas A&M’s defensive lineup.
Carter’s decision to join Texas A&M comes shortly after his high school teammate, top-ranked 2026 wide receiver Aaron Gregory, also pledged to the Aggies. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 235 pounds, Carter brings a powerful combination of size, athleticism and versatility.
Carter holds the No. 5 spot among EDGE prospects in his class and is Georgia’s No. 4 recruit, according to the On3. He is expected to thrive as a 4i-defensive lineman, a position he can flex within Texas A&M’s defensive scheme, much like current sophomore defensive end Rylan Kennedy.
As Texas A&M continues to gain momentum in recruiting, Mike Elko's staff has already locked in six commitments for the 2026 cycle, comfortably within the early top 10 national team rankings.
Gregory, Carter's teammate, expressed his excitement earlier.
“Man I’ve been here so many times and the way the coaches welcome me like family means the most,” Gregory told On3. “Also the culture of the school is one of a kind and you will only find it one place. The brotherhood of the team, the always stick together through the good and bad.”
Carter’s commitment underlines Texas A&M’s growing influence in national recruiting and Elko’s vision for the program, setting a strong foundation for the 2026 season.
Mike Elko's Aggies' 2026 class gains momentum with top commitments following LSU victory
Texas A&M’s impressive recruiting streak continued as they locked in commitments from top prospects, solidifying their standing in the 2026 class. Just 10 days ago, the Aggies secured four-star quarterback Helaman Casuga from Corner Canyon, Utah.
He joins other recent commits, including defensive lineman Trashawn Ruffin, who committed in October, and summer pledges from Ryan Gilbert and Markel Ford.
The Aggies saw additional success late Sunday with four-star linebacker Samu Moala’s pledge, placing Texas A&M’s third top-300 commitment within a single day following a big win over LSU.
Carter, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound edge rusher, is ESPN Junior 300’s No. 9 overall defender and the top-ranked defensive commit for Texas A&M in 2026. Gregory, a multi-talented athlete, has shown his prowess on both sides of the ball.
"For all the recruits out there, this is a real place," Elko told 247sports. "And if you want to be really good at football, this is a really good place to be."
Elko has also accumulated 12 ESPN 300 pledges in the 2025 class, currently ranked eighth nationally. Their recent recruitment gains come as they prepare to face South Carolina in Week 10, riding a seven-game winning streak and holding the No. 10 spot in the AP Top 25.
