The Texas high school football season is six weeks deep, and the competition is as close as ever. The majority of the teams in Texas have maintained their spots in the latest Sports Illustrated rankings. Duncanville High School, along with Crowley and DeSoto, had bye weeks, but that didn't hamper their rankings at all.
Denton Ryan, who was ranked No. 11 last week, slipped to No. 15 this week after a second-half collapse against No. 14 Aledo High School. That win extended Aledo's win streak to an impressive 123 games.
However, the best game of the week happened between No. 5 ranked Atascocita and No. 11 ranked Summer Creek. The game ended with a 42-39 win for the Atascocita Eagles, who are yet to lose a game this season and are currently holding a record of 5-0. Summer Creek, on the other hand, slipped down in the rankings after the loss and now holds a record of 4-1.
Coppell High School made the biggest jump in the high school rankings this week. It went from No. 18 last week to No. 13 this week after an impressive 31-24 win over the Guyer Wildcats on Saturday.
