Ohio State has lost another high-profile commit, and this time it is the four-star edge, London Merritt, who is rumored to be going to Deion Sanders' Colorado. The de-commitment from Merritt came after five-star quarterback Julian Lewis committed to going to Boulder after de-committing from USC.
London released a statement on social media regarding his decision thanked Ohio State staff and praised the program.
His decision has gotten fans talking and has reignited rumors that he is flipping to the Colorado Buffaloes.
"That Colorado NIL package hit," wrote one commenter on X (formerly Twitter).
"You really going to go to Colorado 😆 🤣," replied another.
"Omg, it is actually happened?, this is one of the biggest win if Colorado could sign him," another commenter noted.
Meanwhile, others in the replies just wished him luck or congratulated him on his decision.
"Smart decision decision young man," wrote one person.
"great decision young man thank you," another one replied.
"best of luck, i except to see you in the nfl!" added another person.
Merritt is ranked No. 144 overall and the No. 13 Edge in the Class of 2025, according to 247Sports Composite. He is also ranked the No. 31 overall in the state of Florida.
He plays for IMG Academy and has 46 offers from other colleges and universities from across the country, though the Buffaloes and North Carolina seem to be the favorites.
Ohio Buckeyes losing more recruits amid London Meritt Colorado flip rumors
With Merritt possibly flipping and going to Boulder, the Buckeyes could lose even more commits. National recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong is predicting that five-star cornerback Na'eem Offord will be flipping as well. Offord is rumored to flip on Monday, going from Ohio State to Auburn.
Merritt is now the second Edhe to de-commit from the Buckeyes' program, as four-star Zahir Mathis previously de-committed last November 18. It is not all bad for the Buckeyes though, as their highest-ranked Edge, No. 9 ranked Zion Grady, remains committed to Ohio State.
Maxwell Roy, Jarquez Carter, and Trajen Odom have also de-committed from the Ohio State Buckeyes previously.
Players de-committing from the college they have previously pledged to is quite common. Many players have announced their commitments before the early signing period begins on December 4. This allows other schools to swoop in and change players' minds. Among the most high-profile flips so far this year is Julian Lewis, who is now dead set to play for the Buffs.
