Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins has been a consistent performer in the NFL since his debut in 2012. He has played for three franchises and is widely regarded as one of the top QBs in the country.
Cousins has experienced some amazing nights as a professional football player. He led the Minnesota Vikings to one of the greatest comeback wins in NFL history against the Indianapolis Colts in December 2022. However, Cousins recently shared that it wasn't the best night of his life.
He appeared on "The Pureathlete Podcast" and talked about his high school career. Cousins said that the overall experience of playing for his hometown high school was better than throwing a hail mary on national television.
"The most fun I've ever had on an athletic field was Friday night, under the lights, for my hometown, in high school football," Cousins said on Friday. "Doesn't get any better than that. While there's amazing fun when you throw a hail mary on national TV, it does not top throwing against Greenville High School. To beat them and have your student section at your high school rush the field."
Kirk Cousins played for Holland Christian High School in Holland, Michigan. He tallied 3,204 passing yards, 40 touchdowns and 18 interceptions in his high school career.
Kirk Cousins talks highly about the Holland Christian High School
Cousins played three sports for Holland Christian High School but had a great talent for the QB position. He then committed to Michigan State after graduating in 2007.
Cousins had high praise for Holland Christian and said that he had some of the best years of his life there.
"I had no idea just how much this school would mean to me," Cousins said in 2021, via the school's website. "It was such an impactful part of my life, some of the best years of my life. So I want the kids who come through here to have that same experience."
During the 2012 NFL draft, the Washington Redskins selected Kirk Cousins in the fourth round. In 12 years since then, he has made four Pro Bowls and won the Bart Starr Award for excellent leadership on the field and in the community last year.
