Alijah Arenas, the five-star shooting guard from Chatsworth High School, scored 35 points to bring his school to a win against Crespi Carmelite High School on Friday. Alijah played the match against the twins, Isaiah and Carter Barnes, and successfully added to Chatsworth’s winning streak.
In the video posted by Ballislife's Instagram handle, Alijah can be seen being triple-tagged, attempting a 360, and pulling through despite a 33-point show from Peyton White. The Barnes twins also showcased impressive skills as sophomores. However, it is Alijah Arenas’ stellar performance that has won over the hoops fans.
“Alijah game so smooth. That kid bout to be special,” a fan said.
Other fans, too, enthusiastically expressed their awe at his skills.
“The fact that Alijah with his skills will probably get taller is crazy smh,” a comment said.
“Arenas playing by himself against them,” another comment read.
A lot of commenters talked about the prospects Alijah Arenas' potential can lead him to.
“Arena's son gonna be one of the top players when He gets to the league.. Lil Hibachi 💪🏾,” a fan commented.
“Alijah look like he gonna be one of them ones,” another fan wrote.
“He built different no lie. He’s going to own the league when he gets there,” expressed another fan.
Gilbert Arenas' son Alijah Arenas and the Barnes twins' family ties
Gilbert Arenas, the three-time member of the All-NBA Team, and Matt Barnes, the former Golden State Warriors champion, were both in attendance for the match.
Alijah Arenas and the Barnes twins are not only sons of NBA players but also first cousins. Laura Govan, Alijah’s mother, and Gloria Govan, Isaiah and Carter’s mother, are sisters, which makes them first cousins.
Arenas, who has shifted from the Class of 2026 to 2025, is set to choose from the multiple recruitment offers he has received. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard ranks 15th among the 2025 ESPN 100 and is the third-best among the players sharing his position.
Meanwhile, Isaiah and Carter, belonging to the Class of 2027, still have time. Even so, they are among the top upcoming talents.
As a freshman, Carter has thrived as a defender as he averaged 7.3 points, 1.2 assists and 1.2 rebounds per game. Isaiah, on the other hand, as a shooting guard, averaged 8.5 points,1.3 assists and 2.6 rebounds. With so much potential, it will be interesting to see how their careers play out.
