Laura Govan, the mother of rising basketball star Alijah Arenas, doesn’t shy away from speaking openly about her personal and professional journey.

On Tuesday, November 26, she once again showcased her humorous side with a funny Instagram story. Govan shared an image of a striking black sheep surrounded by a group of white sheep. The story was accompanied by the caption:

"That's ME"

The caption seemed personal and symbolic, seemingly portraying herself as someone who stands out from the crowd—a trait that seemingly resembles her bold and unapologetic personality. Laura Govan had also shared a now-deleted Instagram story where she seemingly took a dig at Shaunie Henderson, the ex-wife of former LA Lakers star Shaquille O'Neal.

Posting a snap from Al Pacino's movie "Scarface," Laura Govan tagged Henderson and captioned the story:

"If you can't handle it, that's on you!"

The former Washington Wizards star had a decade-long relationship with Gilbert Arenas, an NBA great. Together, they have four children: Alijah, Izela, Aloni, and Hamiley Arenas. While the couple parted ways in 2014, they have co-parented their children.

Laura Govan hyped over Alijah Arenas' comparison to NBA star James Harden

The Arenas siblings are lighting up the basketball scene with their standout performances. From Izela Arenas making a statement with an impressive college debut against Southern Indiana to Alijah Arenas dominating in his junior season showdown against Verdugo High School, they are undoubtedly capturing attention and leaving a mark.

Alijah Arenas, in particular, is garnering praise for his extraordinary on-court skills. The No. 4 nationally ranked player faced Westchester High School, Los Angeles, CA, in a highly anticipated clash during the 2024 Westside Tip-Off Classic High School Basketball Tournament on November 19.

Among the star-studded audience was Clippers guard James Harden, who was particularly impressed with Alijah Arenas’ 25-point contribution to his team’s 58-56 victory.

Speaking to the media after the game, Harden praised Alijah and compared the 6-foot-5 guard to himself:

"I saw Alijah this summer, and he just kind of reminded me of myself in the sense that he played against pros as a junior in high school, and that’s how you get better. You learn physicality, you learn skill set, and what you gotta get to."

He added:

"I just spoke to him and said, ‘If you ever need anything, reach out; we can communicate. We've done it a couple of times. He’s just a true student of the game."

Laura Govan couldn’t be happier with her son receiving praise from an NBA great. She shared the video clip on her Instagram story on Sunday with a caption oozing pride:

"(James Harden) On (Alijah Arenas's) Game against 💪🏾."

Alijah Arenas will face Crenshaw on December 5, and fans will undoubtedly expect another electrifying performance from the rising star.
