Colorado five-star quarterback signee Julian Lewis partook in the warming-up practice ahead of the Alamo Bowl with transfer quarterback Kaidon Salter. Lewis and Salter, being new arrivals at Boulder, will not play in the bowl game against BYU. However, the two will be Deion Sanders’ primary quarterback options next season, and the video of their warm-up practice is garnering reactions online.

A Colorado fan account on X, Buffs News Weekly, observed how Lewis was throwing with his left hand instead of his right, wrote,

“Throwing with his left hand…. That throwing hand hurt bad…”

Another fan, Rob McGuire, noted how the practice experience will motivate the duo to play in bowl games next season.

“Taking it all in - love these young men getting this experience- makes them hungry to make a bowl game again next season!!”

An X user pointed out Lewis throwing with his left hand instead of the right. They commented,

“Damn juju hand hella fucked up if he gotta throw w his left.”

The potential of the Buffs’ quarterback room with Lewis and Salter didn’t escape the attention of another X user, who commented,

“Insane qb room at the moment. All future legends.”
"TELL EM WE COMING!! PERFECT TIMING," a fan wrote.
"Love to see it," a fan said.

Why Julian Lewis was throwing with his left hand

Julian Lewis broke his throwing hand ahead of Carrollton High School’s matchup with Grayson High School in the Georgia 6A championship game on Dec. 18. The standout Carrollton quarterback played in the championship game despite his injured hand, leading his team to a painful 38-24 loss to Grayson.

Notwithstanding, the loss was not enough to soil Lewis’ impeccable legacy as he bowed out of high school football. The Colorado signee had an impressive senior season with a 75.8% completion rate as he passed for 3,272 yards and 44 touchdowns. The five-star prospect passed for over 7,000 yards and 96 touchdowns over two years.

He cemented his place as one of the top quarterbacks of the 2025 class despite reclassifying from the 2026 class. He was one of the most sought-after prospects in the class, attracting the attention of the nation’s top programs, including USC and Colorado.

Julian Lewis flipped his commitment from USC to become the jewel of Coach Prime’s 2025 high school recruiting class for the Buffs. With the Buffs’ star quarterback, Shedeur Sanders headed for the NFL, Lewis is expected to lead Colorado’s offense next season.
