Three-star cornerback Dante Core has decided to commit to Auburn. After flirting with commitment during A-Day, he decided on a return visit to the campus, becoming the 11th commitment in Auburn’s 2025 class. He is also the second cornerback in the class, joining four-star player Devin Williams.
Hailing from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Core's journey to Auburn spanned over 200 miles. He initially committed to South Florida before redirecting his path to Auburn. His choice was about finding a place that felt like home:
“I just felt like (Auburn) is a great fit for me,” Core said. “It feels like home. The hospitality is great. The feeling I get when I step on campus is surreal. I love all the staff, love the coaches, love the culture and love what they’re building.”
The journey to this commitment began on March 12, when Auburn extended an offer to Dante Core. Since then, the university has steadily climbed the list of his preferred destinations. He later visited the campus with his family, and stated:
“Ever since I stepped foot on campus they made me feel important. The fans are great. The energy is great. Everything. There is nothing not to love about Auburn.”
Core had offers from Ole Miss, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, N.C. State, Tennessee, Boston College, South Florida, and Rutgers. He plans to make an official visit to Auburn on June 14-15.
He also has visits scheduled to Rutgers from May 31 to June 2, Ole Miss from June 7 to June 9, and South Florida from July 21 to July 23.
Dante Core brings fresh potential to new D-line coach Vontrell King-Williams's leadership
The Auburn Tigers faced a huge transition when former defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett departed for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The shift was particularly beneficial for Vontrell King-Williams, who had served as a defensive analyst under Garrett's mentorship. By February 9, Auburn promoted King-Williams to defensive tackles coach, marking his first on-field coaching position.
Dante Core is a promising addition to King-Williams' defense. He played as a cornerback and wide receiver and is expected to bring fresh dynamism to the team's D-line.
As a junior, Dante Core recorded 22 tackles, a tackle for loss, two interceptions, and four pass deflections. His offensive stats were equally impressive, with 10 receptions for 232 yards and two touchdowns. In his sophomore year, the cornerback recorded 62 tackles, including 56 solo efforts, an interception, and two forced fumbles.
Core joins a talented defensive unit that includes linemen Malik Autry and Jourdin Crawford, along with edge defender Jakaleb Faulk, linebacker Tyler Lockhart, and cornerback Devin Williams. This lineup is also bolstered by the recent additions of Philip Blidi, Isaiah Raikes, and Keyron Crawford.
