Kiyan Anthony, son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, is on a mission to lead his Long Island Lutheran Crusaders to the Chipotle National Championship this year. He sat down with "League Ready" to discuss the possibility of winning the national title and he was very confident that he and his team could do it.

Host Jason Jordan asked Kiyan Anthony what his thoughts regarding Long Island Lutheran's chances of winning the national title were, and the four-star recruit made his thoughts known.

"The mentality never bust. I feel like, okay, the team we have now practicing twice a day in the weight room, and um, chemistry we have on and off the court," explained Kiyan Anthony. "I feel like we definitely have what it takes to get it done, so that's definitely a goal, nothing less than trying to win. Win City of Palms, win Chipotle." (6:28-6:48)

For the state of New York, Long Island Lutheran is considered one of the favorites to win the state title and move on to the nationals. However, winning nationals itself is a different story. Kiyan Anthony and the Crusaders would be facing much stronger teams, possibly against the likes of the Boozer Twins' Christopher Columbus Crusaders or AJ Dybantsa's Utah Prep.

During the interview, he also praised his teammates, including returning players like Nigel James and Kayden Mingo, as well as Dylan Mingo, who is a junior. He said he is confident with this team and says that the Long Island Lutheran Crusaders are coming in with a lot of depth this season.

"Just going to it, you know obviously we have two of the the starting guards returning from last year, Kaden and NJ. Kaden just committed to Penn State and NJ is obviously committed to Marquette and myself stepping into that role. (6:49-6:59)
"Big African at the five and then a solid fourman, you know, being a connector," he added. "I feel like we really have a good five, plus you know we got Dylan Mingo. We got a lot of people coming in that's that's ready to play so I feel like definitely we content." (7:00-7:13)

Long Island Lutheran will boast several four-star players coming into the 2024-2025 season - Kiyan Anthony, Nigel James, Moussa Kamissoko, and the Mingo brothers, Dylan and Kayden (with Dylan Mingo is rated by some sites as a five-star for the Class of 2026).

The younger Anthony also elaborated that their team matches well with their coaching staff and that this is why they should be right on top.

"I feel like out depth, our coaching stadd, just, it firs with so well. so O feel like our name sa LuHi (Long Island Lutheran High School) should definitely be at the top." (7:15-7:24)

Kiyan Anthony is now down to two schools for college, with his father, Carmelo Anthony, revealing that it is now down to just USC and Syracuse during an appearance on a late-night talk show.
