Kansas commit Darryn Peterson and Louisville signee Mikel Brown Jr locked horns against each other when Peterson's Prolific Prep gained a tight 89-81 win against Brown Jr.'s DME Academy (Orlando, FL). Peterson finished with 39 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two blocks, while Brown Jr. had 29 points, eight assists, and four rebounds.

Darryn Peterson praises head coach Bill Self

Darryn Peterson, who ranks first in the shooting guard position in California, had 35 offers from programs nationwide, including UCLA, Memphis, Arizona State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, and Ohio State, among others, according to On3.

However, he spoke to On3 about his decision to choose Kansas, commending Bill Self:

"This was a very hard decision. Ultimately, it was the coaching of Bill Self and the culture of their program. My heart and gut were with Kansas. I will have the opportunity to play right away as a freshman, prepare for the draft and be dialed into winning. I won't look back or ahead. I will be dialed in when I am there."

Darryn Peterson will be accompanied by Bryson Tiller and Samis Calderon at the Jayhawks next season.
