JaShawn Andrews, one of the top-ranked basketball prospects in the Class of 2026, visited LSU for its 80-72 Southeastern Conference loss to Vanderbilt on Saturday. The 6-foot-7 shooting guard from Little Rock (Arkansas) Christian is ranked No. 16 nationally by ESPN, attracting attention from top programs. His LSU visit was part of a series of official trips to evaluate fits for his college career.

Andrews had high praise for LSU after his visit:

“Their style of play is a great fit for me.”

Andrews, also known as JJ Andrews, said he was impressed with the Tigers’ fast-paced and aggressive approach.

While at LSU from Friday to Sunday, he toured the campus, engaged with the coaching staff and observed how the team’s schemes align with his strengths as a versatile scorer and playmaker. The visit included an up-close look at the Tigers’ facilities, game-day atmosphere and basketball program.

“It was a great visit,” Andrews said.

This LSU visit was just one of several stops for Andrews, who has been meticulously weighing his options. A few days prior, Andrews visited Arkansas, where he also had glowing feedback.

"I was excited to get an inside look at what it’s like to play basketball for Coach (John) Cal (Calipari) and the University of Arkansas," Andrews said. "My family and I enjoyed learning about their schemes and style of play.”

With his elite scoring ability, defensive versatility, and strong basketball IQ, JJ Andrews is seen as a game-changer at the next level.

His father, Shawn Andrews, was an All-American offensive tackle at Arkansas before becoming a first-round NFL draft pick. His mother, Janetta Heggins Andrews, played basketball at Western Carolina.

JaShawn Andrews prepares for upcoming visits and summer commitment

JaShawn Andrews has already visited Missouri and NC State. Official visits to Marquette and Oklahoma are on the horizon for February, as he continues to narrow down his choices.

Andrews has indicated that he plans to make his college commitment in the summer of 2025, giving him ample time to consider which program fits him best both on and off the court.

Programs across the country are vying for JJ Andrews’ talent, but LSU’s style of play and strong impression during his visit has made it a serious contender. As his recruitment progresses, all eyes will be on where this dynamic 2026 prospect decides to take his talents.
