Coach Derek Fisher and Matt Barnes put aside differences for the twins
Isaiah and Carter Barnes are emerging as prospects in the Class of 2027. Helping them with their basketball journey is Crespi coach Derek Fisher, a five-time NBA champion.
Matt Barnes and Fisher were once at odds with each other because of a personal incident in 2015. After Fisher and Gloria Govan, Barnes' wife and the mother of the twins, got married in July 2021, Barnes said that they were past their differences, and what mattered the most to him was the comfort of his children.
“To me, it's about raising these twins the best we possibly can and co-parenting, so now he and I are cool," Barnes said. "We're on the same page. We communicate and see each other when we're at events. They’ve been to my house for the twins’ birthday. I’ve been to their place."
With Fisher’s guidance and Barnes’ support, Carter and Isaiah are growing into standout athletes.
