Five-star receiver Caleb Cunningham of the 2025 class recently committed to Alabama, bolstering the Crimson Tide's recruiting rankings. Despite his commitment, rumors have swirled about a potential flip to Auburn, especially with his attendance at Auburn's "Big Cat Weekend" on July 27, just before Alabama's "Cold Summer Cook-Out."

Recruits Bama hinted at the uncertainty, stating,

“This recruitment appears to be 'far from over' from the Barn’s standpoint.”

Yet Cunningham took to social media, denying the possibility of a possible flip and said,

"I DONT CARE WHAT NOBODY SAY!! THERE IS NO FLIPPING!"

Cunningham revealed to Inside the Tide that Auburn was his second choice, but ultimately, they couldn't compete with Alabama.

"Auburn, they can't compete with Bama, to be real," he said.

His excitement about joining Alabama is evident, as he shared,

"Oh man, Bama is No. 1. They're No. 1, for sure," citing the resources and development opportunities as key reasons for his choice.

During his commitment announcement, Caleb Cunningham expressed a strong connection to Alabama's program.

"I just knew it man,” he told On3. “It was really in the middle of the visit. It just felt different. I had been there before, and Alabama was always high on my list, but I knew that was where I wanted to be. That is why I committed to Alabama.”

The official visit solidified his decision.

“I just felt like I was hanging out with family. The visit was different for me. Being around the people, I just felt comfortable. It was an official visit, but it didn’t feel like an official visit," Cunningham explained.

Caleb Cunningham becomes Kalen DeBoer’s top commitment at Alabama

On July 13, Alabama secured a significant commitment from Cunningham, marking the highest-rated recruit of Kalen DeBoer's early tenure. Ranked No. 19 in the 2025 ESPN 300, he is the top prospect from Mississippi, choosing Alabama over Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn, Florida, and Tennessee.

Caleb Cunningham, the third-best wide receiver in the 2025 class, is the premier recruit in DeBoer's first recruiting class for Alabama.

He is Alabama’s 16th ESPN 300 commit. Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 190 pounds, Cunningham is one of eight top-100 commits for Alabama, including Dijon Johnson (No. 25), Keelon Russell (No. 32), Darrell Johnson (No. 34), and Derick Smith (No. 38).

Cunningham’s choice was influenced by Alabama’s storied program and promising future.

"Alabama has it all," Cunningham told On3. "You can’t go against Bama. They are the best. They have great coaches, they develop players, I feel at home there and I get to play with a great quarterback in Keelon Russell."

A multi-sport athlete from Choctaw County High School, Caleb Cunningham set school records with 48 catches, 1,138 yards, and 14 touchdowns last season.
