Pickerington North quarterback Jarin Mock, a three-star recruit from Ohio, has withdrawn his commitment to the University of Wisconsin's 2026 recruiting class. Mock previously chose the Badgers over offers from Central Michigan, Miami (OH), Marshall and UMass.
Mock made the announcement Tuesday evening on social media, explaining that Wisconsin would no longer honor his commitment.
“After a brief conversation with Wisconsin they are no longer honoring my commitment. With that being said, my recruitment is 100% open,” Mock wrote.
Mock’s decommitment leaves Wisconsin with only one pledged recruit in the 2026 class: Benjamin Novak, a three-star offensive lineman from Indiana. Novak committed in October, expressing confidence in Wisconsin’s strong academic and athletic programs and its reputation as an "O-line University."
Ranked as the No. 536 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle by On3, Mock initially committed to Wisconsin in July. At the time, the program was under the direction of offensive coordinator Phil Longo, who was dismissed in November following a disappointing season.
Wisconsin's offensive struggles under Longo included ranking 91st nationally in total offense (363.1 yards per game) and 98th in scoring (23.9 points per game). After a 16-13 loss to top-ranked Oregon dropped the Badgers to 5-5, sweeping changes to the offensive staff and quarterback room ensued.
Longo was replaced by Jeff Grimes, and three quarterbacks—Tyler Van Dyke, Braedyn Locke and Mabrey Mettauer—transferred out. Mettauer joined Longo at Sam Houston State.
Wisconsin offers scholarship to Texas state champion QB Bowe Bentley
Junior quarterback Bowe Bentley led Celina High School to a perfect season and a Texas 4A Division 1 state championship. His standout performance caught the attention of Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell and his staff, leading to an official scholarship offer on Tuesday.
“After a great conversation with (Wisconsin quarterbacks coach Kenny Guiton), I am blessed to receive an offer from Wisconsin,” Bentley wrote.
In the state championship game against Kilgore, Bentley recorded over 300 total yards and contributed to five scores. In the season, the three-star signal-caller passed for 3,330 yards and scored 47 touchdowns through the air, and he rushed for 933 yards and scored another 16 touchdowns on the ground.
Bentley has garnered interest from several programs, receiving offers from Tulane, UTSA, Colorado State, Arizona and UTEP. He recently showcased his talents at the All-American Bowl.
With Jarin Mock’s decommitment from Wisconsin, Bentley’s offer aligns with the Badgers’ revamp of their quarterback room. All quarterbacks recruited by former offensive coordinator Phil Longo have now left the program.
