Four-star edge rusher Tylon Lee flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to Florida State on Friday. He committed to the Rebels on Oct. 27 but reversed course after an official visit to Tallahassee over the weekend.
Lee had a huge senior season at Pace High School in Florida. He recorded 87 tackles, 40 tackles for loss, six sacks and 28 quarterback hurries in just 11 games.
Some fans were left in shock as Lee chose FSU, which had a disastrous 2-10 season, while Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss enjoyed a 9-3 season. Many fans speculated that NIL deals played a key role in his decision, which caused heated debates in recent months following other high-profile flips, such as five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood’s flip from LSU to Michigan.
"Helll yea! They must just be handing out blank checks haha. FSU is an absolute dumpster fire," a fan wrote.
"Lmao They must be paying a lot cause no one would do to that awful program if they aren’t getting paid heavily," another fan wrote.
"This might be the worst decision he’s ever made in his life 😭," according to a fan.
"Odd choice for his skill set," one wrote.
Ole Miss is left with 22 commits in the 2025 class following Lee's decommitment. The class ranks No. 16 in the nation and No. 9 in the Southeastern Conference. Though Lee flipped to Florida State, all other commits for the Rebels in this class signed their national letter of intent.
For Florida State, Lee’s commitment is a significant win as they look to rebuild through a renewed focus on recruiting elite talent. The Seminoles fans didn’t shy away from giving a warm welcome to Lee.
"Go Noles, welcome to the Tribe young man," one wrote.
"Great decision young man," another wrote.
On3 ranks Lee as the nation’s No. 7 edge rusher in the 2025 class, the No. 71 prospect and the No. 10 recruit in Florida. His explosive athleticism draws comparisons to elite defensive ends like Texas A&M Aggies' star Nic Scourton.
Tylon Lee shares the reasons behind his flip from Florida State to Ole Miss
Tylon Lee's commitment is a big boost for Florida State's 2025 class, which was hit with back-to-back decommitments in the last few weeks. Several Seminoles pledges switched to in-state rival Florida, including running back Byron Louis, interior offensive lineman Daniel Pierre Louis, and quarterback Tramell Jones.
However, Lee decided to start his college football career with Mike Norvell's program.
“Being close to home of course.” Lee told On3. “Keeping it real with me. Them building relationships with me throughout my process.”
Despite a disastrous season this year, Lee keeps his faith in Florida State's coaching staff.
“The coaches and everything,” Lee said. “The atmosphere there. Getting coached by coaches that played in the league and have that experience of what Sunday football is like.”
South Carolina's 2025 class is ranked No. 19 in the nation with 20 committed players.
