Bryce Underwood, the highly sought-after quarterback prospect from Belleville, Michigan, recently shared his thoughts on his recruitment journey and his memorable experiences during visits to top programs.

In an interview with football player and YouTuber Donald De La Haye, better known as “Deestroyer,” on the Kickin’ it with Dee channel on Monday, Underwood reflected on his trip to Colorado and his meeting with Deion Sanders.

“I talked to them and everything. The atmosphere was crazy. They probably got the craziest atmosphere in college..... they’re probably up there with LSU, Michigan. I gotta go check it out. They got celebrities at every game, bro. Every game is packed, and somehow, some way, every game is close.” [31:25]

When asked about his early start in football, Underwood revealed his passion was sparked at a young age.

“I’d say when I was about eight or nine,” he said. “My dad always motivated me to do that. That’s what this was.”

In the same conversation, Dee brought up Bill Belichick’s recent transition to college coaching, taking over at the University of North Carolina. Underwood acknowledged the potential impact of Belichick’s leadership, saying:

“A coach can make a difference in everything, honestly. Yeah, for sure. So we’ll see probably in the next couple of years, honestly, probably my last year.”

Belichick’s appointment as UNC’s coach marks a major shift in his career. At 72 years old, the legendary NFL coach signed a five-year, $30 million contract on Dec. 12, succeeding Mack Brown after UNC’s 6-6 season.

Wolverines reload at quarterback with Mikey Keene and Bryce Underwood

Michigan coach Sherrone Moore is aggressively reshaping the Wolverines’ quarterback roster for the 2025 season following the departure of Alex Orji to the transfer portal.

In a move aimed at addressing the team’s struggles in the passing game, Michigan landed Fresno State quarterback Mikey Keene. Keene will join Bryce Underwood, the top-ranked player and five-star quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class, in a revamped quarterback room.

Keene, a fifth-year senior in 2025, provides invaluable experience to a Michigan offense that ranked 130th out of 134 teams in passing last season. The Wolverines cycled through Davis Warren, Jack Tuttle, and Orji under center, yet managed only 1,603 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions for the season, averaging just 133.6 yards per game.

Mikey Keene began his journey at UCF before making his way over to Fresno State. Over the course of 24 games, Keene produced some impressive numbers, racking up 5,868 passing yards, 42 touchdowns and 21 interceptions, as well as a completion rate of 68.7%.

While competing for the starting role, Keene’s veteran presence is expected to stabilize the offense alongside Underwood, as Moore looks to reignite a passing attack that floundered after J.J. McCarthy’s departure to the NFL.
