Four-star offensive tackle Thomas Wilder, from Green Run High School in Virginia Beach, has already established himself as one of the top prospects in the 2026 recruiting class. His offer from the Michigan Wolverines has added to his growing list of collegiate suitors.
The Wolverines' offensive line coach Grant Newsome extended the coveted offer to Wilder during the Spring evaluation period. Wilder described Newsome as a "standup guy" and shared his excitement and respect for the Wolverines’ football program.
“They produce a lot of behemoth offensive linemen,” Wilder told On3. “That stands out to me. They are always putting out big-time guys. That impresses me a lot. They produce so many guys. I love that about them.”
The Wolverines are fresh off a national championship victory. This success extends beyond the collegiate level, with numerous players making successful transitions to the NFL. A notable example is J.J. McCarthy, who was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings as the No. 10 overall pick.
For Wilder, Michigan represents an opportunity to join a lineage of top-tier talent.
“I love Michigan so much. If you go to Michigan, it’s like you are automatically a lock to go to the league," he added.
Wilder is also impressed by the strength and dominance of Michigan's offensive line.
“That offensive line is great. They are big dogs. Nobody can compete with them. I would love to be a part of that," Wilder said.
Charles Power, On3 Rankings Director, described Wilder's exceptional freshman film, noting it as possibly the best among offensive linemen in the 2026 cycle. At 6-foot-6 and 280 pounds, Wilder's size and skill make him a dominant force on the field.
