Four-star safety Jett Washington, from Bishop Gorman High School in Nevada, is one of the highest-rated prospects in the 2026 class. The blue-chip prospect plans to make his commitment decision in the spring or summer of next year.
Dan Lanning's Oregon has emerged as a major contender for his commitment.
In an interview with Recruits Bama earlier this month, Washington confirmed Oregon as one of his top choices.
He recently visited the school on Oct. 12 to watch the Ohio State faceoff that ended in a 32-31 win for the Ducks. The visit left a strong impression on Washington. Speaking to On3, he said,
"They're definitely high on my board after the visit and seeing everything up there," Washington told On3.
The Ducks have the nation's top-ranked 2026 class with seven early commitments. The cycle includes promising prospects such as Kodi Greene, Tony Cumberland, Viliami Moala, Tradarian Ball, Jonas Williams, Tomuhini Topui and Dutch Horisk.
Oregon is also making strides in pursuing other elite prospects, including five-star edge rusher Zion Elee.
According to On3 analyst Steve Wiltfong, the school has been in "constant" communication with Elee. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Ducks an 89.4% chance of securing his commitment.
Ohio State also leads the race for Jett Washington's recruitment
Ohio State Safety coach Matt Guerrieri extended an offer to Washington in late September and is currently leading the race.
According to On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Buckeyes have a 33.2% chance of securing his commitment.
“I saw they were always a winning program in the spring, they were going at a really high tempo,” Washington told Eleven Warriors.
“I got to see how competitive they are and sit in a couple of meetings and got to see how quickly they process information.”
Ohio State has wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. committed to the 2026 class. Washington was particularly impressed with the history of players the Buckeyes have developed.
“I think the players that they’ve had in the program. And the culture they’ve put together over the past couple of years,” he added.
Jett Washington is ranked by the On3 Industry Rankings as the No. 44 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 4 athlete in the 2026 class and the No. 1 recruit in Nevada.
