Christian Jones, a highly sought-after 4-star linebacker from Omaha Westside, paid an official visit to the University of Nebraska. As the top-ranked player in Nebraska's 2025 class, Jones's visit to the Cornhuskers is noteworthy, reflecting Nebraska's intent to retain top local talent.
Jones spoke positively about his visit, particularly highlighting the coaching staff's emphasis on recruiting the state's best athletes.
"They want the best players in the state to come play for Nebraska. That’s the big message," Jones said.
"It was good," Jones told 247 Sports. "There's just more food around on an official. It was a good vibe. I've been there so many times, so there was nothing drastic, but it was really just a good time hanging with the coaches and their families."
Jones is the No. 1 player in Nebraska and the No. 23 linebacker nationally for the 2025 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. His overall ranking stands at No. 213 among all recruits.
Christian Jones's continued interest in Nebraska is evident through his multiple visits to Lincoln. However, his recruitment remains competitive, with Oklahoma also making a strong push to secure his commitment.
Gabe Brooks of 247 Sports described Jones as a "multi-dimensional high school playmaker" who excels both on offense and defense, particularly at linebacker, with notable athleticism and room for growth.
"Multi-dimensional high school playmaker [Jone] with heavy two-way snaps and special teams participation. Big outside receiver who also plays from the edge and off-ball linebacker, which is the highest long-term projection," Brooks wrote in his scouting report.
"Negative wing relative to height but a good build with some space to add more mass as desired. Strong combine testing data in the lateral suddenness category."
Last season, Christian Jones demonstrated his versatility and impact, recording 41 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and an interception for Omaha Westside.
Oklahoma Sooners in the mix for Christian Jones, eyeing top talent for 2025 recruiting class
The Oklahoma Sooners are actively building their 2025 recruiting class, which already boasts 23 commitments. Among the top targets are blue-chip prospects Omarion Robinson and Lamont Rogers.
Despite losing Mark Iheanachor to SMU, Oklahoma remains focused on pursuing 4-star prospect Christian Jones.
Jones, ranked No. 77 overall and No. 6 among linebackers by Rivals, is a highly regarded recruit out of Omaha Westside. While Nebraska is heavily vying for the Omaha native, Oklahoma appears to be gaining momentum in its recruitment efforts.
Jones, who is eyeing a third consecutive state championship with Omaha Westside, is attracting significant attention, receiving 19 Division I offers.
"So right now we are the bottom of the mountain, and we are taking the steps to the top of the mountain. We are not focused on the grand goal, we are focused on the next step," Jones said about his journey. [via FOX].
As a junior, Jones recorded 55 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and contributed significantly on offense with 20 catches for 500 yards and nine touchdowns.
