Five-star cornerback Na'eem Offord, from Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama, has remained committed to Ohio State since February. However, programs like Auburn and Oregon are still trying to flip him from the Buckeyes. The most surprising late push for Offord has come from Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes.
In an interview with On3's Phillip Dukes, Offord's father revealed that if they were to consider another visit, it would likely be to Colorado. He shared his reasoning by revealing the Buffaloes' vision for Na'eem.
"Just the idea of where they see Na'eem at," Offord's father said. "They want to try and make him like the next Travis Hunter."
This renewed interest from Colorado isn't entirely unexpected. Before committing to Ohio State, Offord had also considered the Buffaloes, along with Alabama.
The Buffaloes' pursuit of Offord aligns with their rising profile under Deion Sanders. Since Sanders took over as head coach, Colorado has turned into a competitive program by going from a below-average team to boasting a 4-1 record overall and being undefeated in Big-12 play so far.
Meanwhile, Offord possesses elite length and playmaking ability, making him a versatile defender at the college level. Sanders and his staff will definitely push him for the Buffaloes 2025 class, which ranks No. 83 in the nation. The school is gradually trying to make an elite class and is in conversation with multiple blue-chip prospects like five-star USC quarterback commit Julian Lewis to boost this cycle.
Colorado already has a four-star cornerback, Alex Graham, in the fold for the 2025 class, but landing Na'eem Offord will be a major victory for the program.
Na'eem Offord made a game-day visit to the Oregon vs. Ohio State match
Na’eem Offord made a significant game-day visit to watch Oregon take on Ohio State on Saturday, alongside Oregon’s five-star safety commit Trey McNutt and four-star cornerback commit Dorian Brew. The No. 3 Ducks secured a dramatic 32-31 win over the No. 2 Buckeyes, marking their second consecutive victory over Ohio State.
DuckSports Authority's Brandon Gibson said he wouldn’t predict an immediate flip from Offord’s Ohio State commitment but said that this visit provided Oregon with its best opportunity to make a lasting impression on Offord. The Ohio State commit could see Oregon as a strong fit for both his athletic and academic aspirations, much like Kayvon Thibodeaux did when he committed to the Ducks in 2018.
Thibodeaux, a former No. 1 defensive end recruit, chose Oregon following a game-day visit. His reasoning was not solely for football but because the Ducks provided the best combination of academic and athletic opportunities. This approach can resonate with Offord, and he may weigh similar factors before signing day.
