AJ Dybantsa and Utah Prep were looking to bounce back after their upset loss against Mt. Zion, taking on West Oaks High School from Florida on Friday. They delivered a dominant performance, winning 98-72. As expected, AJ Dynantsa was dominant and put on a show.
Dybantsa posterized a West Oaks player with an under-the-rim windmill dunk, and he did another highlight alley-oop with four-star teammate JJ Mandaquit. These plays got a lot of fans talking.
"This is how Bryce is supposed to play 😢😢," one fan said.
"Windmill under basket is crazy😢," another fan said.
"Nah wtf I just witnessed yo," one fan said.
Meanwhile, other commenters were speculating that AJ Dybantsa would be a future student at their school. However, Dybantsa won't be making his college decision until February 2025. The favorites to land him include BYU, North Carolina and Alabama.
"@aj.dybantsa bama boys coming to watch another bama boy play 🐘," one Alabama supporter said.
"Can’t wait to see him do this in the Marriott center next year @coachkevinyoung," a BYU fan said while also tagging Cougars head coach Kevin Young.
"future tarheel," one North Carolina fan said.
Until AJ Dybantsa makes his big announcement in February, it is still anybody's guess which school he will go to for college. However, several websites, such as On3, have projected that BYU is the favorite so far, with a 62.9% chance of landing his commitment. The school has been described as the most aggressive in trying to recruit him.
3-Star Utah Prep teammate outshines AJ Dybantsa during win vs. West Oaks
The game against West Oaks was not a regular season game but a part of Grind Session Las Vegas. However, as Dybantsa was seen having some fun as his team was having a big lead, Jackson Rasmussen, an unraked three-star power forward, was named Player of the Game during that win in Las Vegas.
Rasmussen had 24 points, eight rebounds, an assist and a steal during the game. Meanwhile, AJ Dybantsa had 21 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and four steals.
Rasmussen is a senior who previously played for Owyhee High School in Idaho. He is regarded as the No. 52 power forward and the No. 1 player in Idaho by 247Sports. He has already committed to the Idaho Vandals.
