The director of scouting for 247Sports Adam Finkelstein talked about Frost in a YouTube video, announcing his commitment. Finkelstein was full of praise for the 18-year-old (00:51):
"He is probably, not probably, he is definitely in the conversation for the best shooters in all of high school basketball," said Finkelstein. "This guy is an absolute flamethrower from behind the three-point line and had a wealth of major scholarship offers."
Ryder Frost, who was seen in the video with his family around, said that his father taught him how to shoot. The Northeastern Conference MVP averaged 20.2 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. For Middlesex Magic, Frost shot 44.2 percent on 8.6 3-pointers per game this past AAU season.
After finishing the next season with 23 points, 14.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.0 blocks per contest, Frost was named the conference MVP for a second straight year.
Why did Ryder Frost join Notre Dame?
Frost is an excellent shooter from beyond the arc. In the Under Armour Next Circuit, he shot 44% from the 3-point line. He's the No. 83 recruit nationally on On3's ranking and third in his state.
When asked why he chose Notre Dame, Ryder Frost told 247Sports praised the relationship the coaches built with his family.
“I just felt like I really connected with everyone and loved everything on my visit,” Frost told 247Sports.
“It felt like home and the spot for me. I really connected with the players, Coach (Micah) Shrewsberry, Coach (Mike) Farrelly and the entire coaching staff. They built great relationships with me, my coaches, and my family. I just felt they were the best spot for me and that they would allow me to chase my goals. I also fit well for their style of play.”
