Actress La La Anthony, mother of high school basketball star Kiyan Anthony and ex-wife of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, has been busy mobilizing voters for election day. She is voting for Democrat candidate Kamala Harris and announced her endorsement on social media.
Her video featured a much younger Kiyan at the White House. It featured him at the press room podium and meeting then-First Lady Michelle Obama. As the video goes on, it also featured Kiyan with former president Barack Obama before urging people to vote for Harris.
However, she also has a strong message for voters regarding Puerto Rico, where she was from. This was in response to a comedian who called the U.S. territory an island of garbage during a rally for Harris' opponent, former President Donald Trump.
"We cannot ignore the harmful rhetoric directed at our communities," she said. "Recently, at a Trump rally, we all know there were some disgusting remarks made about the island where I am from, Puerto Rico, refering to it as a floating island of garbage.
"This kind of disrespect is unacceptable. It highlights a deep-seated disregard for our culture and our people," she continued. "We must stand united against such hate."
She then reposted the photo of a younger Kiyan Anthony at the White House press room and once again urged people to vote.
She then proudly posted that she had already voted for Kamala Harris in Los Angeles County on election day.
As shown in her throwback clips, La La Anthony has been active in endorsing Democratic candidates since Obama was in office and continued her advocacy for Harris. She has been bringing Kiyan along with her too.
Should Harris win the presidency, she would become not just the first female president, but also the first president of Indian descent and the second African-American president. Her father was Jamaican, while her mother was of Indian descent.
Kiyan followed La La Anthony's footsteps with WME deal
With Kiyan Anthony now officially part of Hollywood agency WME, the four-star shooting guard will now be represented by the agency with his NIL deals moving forward. However, being their latest client means that he has also joined his mom, La La Anthony, in the agency.
La La signed with the Hollywood agency back in June. The agency also represents Robert Downey Jr., Adele and more.
